Washington, DC – You know you’ve crossed the line when even your own party members slam your race-baiting rhetoric. On Sunday, on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia ripped fellow Democrat and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California for claiming that President Donald Trump wants “to make America white again,” saying the country doesn’t “need that type of rhetoric.” When CNN host Jake Tapper asked Manchin about Pelosi’s comments, he said,

“You know what, we don’t need that type of rhetoric from Nancy.”

“I’m condemning all this crazy rhetoric that goes on. Just because someone’s a Republican is not – is not my enemy, and we have to work together.”

With midterm elections looming, Manchin may be seeking to distance himself from the antics of House Minority leader Pelosi. Pelosi told the United States Conference of Mayors on Friday that President Trump’s compromise immigration proposal to grant qualified amnesty to 1.8 million illegal aliens is actually “a campaign to make America white again.”

Pelosi, added that President Trump supports “changing the character of the country” with his compromise proposal, which she said brought “a tear to the eye of the Statue of Liberty.” Many of Pelosi’s remarks have raised eyebrows recently and brought into question the issue of term limits for Congress once again into the spotlight.

Pelosi wants illegal aliens brought to the U.S. as children who qualified under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) program to be allowed to remain in the United States indefinitely. President Trump announced in September 2017 that he was rescinding DACA and gave Congress a deadline of March 2018 to come up with a legislative solution, because according to the Constitution, only Congress has the power to naturalize an illegal alien. Former president Barack Obama created DACA in 2012 via an executive order, which many legal experts view as unconstitutional because it supplanted the lawmaking authority of Congress. Pelosi, in her address to the Mayors, painted a romantic picture of illegal aliens,

“People come here with their hopes and dreams and aspirations and their optimism, their courage to make their future better for their families.”

Pelosi added that “these newcomers make America more American.” But it all depends on what one’s definition of “American” is. Illegal aliens have contributed significantly to organized crime, crime rates, drug abuse and child sex trafficking. This is not to mention the undermining of American culture, the abrogation of English as the lingua franca in certain urban neighborhoods as well as the reduction in security in many urban centers. Today, more illegal aliens are either incarcerated or involved in activities likely to lead to incarceration than at any point in our nation’s history. Illegal aliens are statistically more likely to commit violent crimes, abuse drugs and destroy property than the average American city, not accounting for the scores of criminal activities which are committed by illegal aliens that go unreported every year.

But Pelosi was adamant about painting these illegal aliens as a godsend for Americans,

“Instead of viewing it as something, in their word, ‘alien,’ (Republicans) should embrace it.”

“They are changing the character of our country by what they are putting forth. They bring a tear to the eye of the Statue of Liberty, and they bring fear to the hearts of people who are here playing by the rules.”

Manchin dismissed Pelosi’s rhetoric while urging Congress to consider the principles laid out in the White House’s immigration proposal and to attempt to find common ground,

“We have the wall. We need to repair the wall. We’ll need to build more wall. We need to do whatever we can to secure the border, the borders.”

“And I come down this – the President has laid out a template. We’re going to look at that template, and we’re going to work with it.”

President Trump’s immigration proposal is one of the key platforms which Americans voted him into the Oval Office for, but is being resisted by the Democrats, who even shutdown the government for the sake of illegal aliens. In addition to a path to citizenship for a select group of 1.8 million illegal immigrants, President Trump plan also allots $25 billion for border wall funding and other security measures, restricts chain migration and ends the visa lottery. President Trump’s “path to citizenship” proposal for illegal aliens is a stroke of sheer genius, because it offers an opportunity to only assimilate the very best illegal aliens, while providing a regulatory process to send back those who have consistently sought to destroy the fabric of our nation.
